LILONGWE (ILO News) – The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, will undertake an official working visit to Malawi from 1 to 4 August 2026.
 

During his stay, Mr. Houngbo will engage with senior Government officials, representatives of employers' and workers' organizations, United Nations partners, and other key stakeholders to discuss priorities for advancing decent work, social dialogue, skills development and inclusive economic growth in Malawi.

The Director-General's programme includes a courtesy call on His Excellency President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika. He will also hold meetings with Honourable Joel Chigona, MP, Minister of Labour, Skills and Innovation, leadership of the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU), the Employers' Consultative Association of Malawi (ECAM), and members of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT).
