Our Work on the Sustainable Development Goals in Malawi

How the UN is supporting The Sustainable Development Goals in Malawi

UN support to Malawi is provided under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2019-2023, which represents a strong collaborative link with the Malawi Government’s national development priorities as expressed in the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS) III for 2017 to 2022. The Cooperation Framework is UN Malawi’s attempt to step up and match the ambition of the Sustainable Development Goals through a system-wide response to national challenges. Through the Cooperation Framework, UN investments are concentrated around three pillars: 1. Peace, Inclusion and Effective Institutions 2. Population Management and Inclusive Human Development 3. Inclusive and Resilient Growth The UN in Malawi has set up an SDG Acceleration Fund, a financing mechanism that aims at supporting SDG actions in the country. The Fund enhances adequate, predictable and sustainable funding for a coordinated, coherent, effective and accountable response, in accordance with national priorities.
