BASELINE STUDY TO UNDERTAKE A GENDER SENSITIVE SECTORAL ASSESSMENT ON THE NEXUS BETWEEN MIGRATION, ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE (MECC)
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) would like to engage the services of a consultant to undertake a Baseline Assessment on the nexus between Migration, Environment and Climate Change in Malawi. The assessment will culminate into development of policy recommendations which will be used to improve the policy framework on migration, environment, and climate change.
About the Consultant
The Consultant is expected to have the following qualifications and attributes to be eligible for this position:
- A post-graduate degree (minimum of Masters’ degree) in Natural Resources Management; Climate Change; Disaster Risk Management; Development Studies, Demography, or related social science degree from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 7 years progressive working experience in environmental management and/or natural resource management, climate change, Demography and/or disaster risk management at policy level or program/project management level.
- Experience in work related to migration and its linkages to environment and climate change and sustainable development.
- A track record of leading policy analysis studies and community and institutional surveys while maintaining high standards in data collection, managing survey logistics, and training.
- At least 5 years of consultancy experience in the areas of migration, environment and natural resources management, demography, climate change and/or disaster risk management.
- A demonstrated high level of professionalism and an ability to work independently and in high pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrable ability to meet timelines is a desirable attribute.
